A seven-figure gift set to be announced tomorrow will pay for an educational clinic for students at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest campus, according to a news release.
The campus has 100 students and will eventually have more than 300, the news release state.

WHAT: The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Northwest campus will announce a major gift to fund a special clinic that will enhance the educational experience for UAMS students.
The UAMS Northwest campus now includes more than 100 students. Eventual enrollment will total more than 300 medical, pharmacy, nursing and allied health professions students, along with resident physicians. The campus welcomed its first students in 2009.

Good news for NWA and thanks again to the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation for yet another generous gift to UAMS (read somewhere they’ve given $48 million to date).
Another area charity, the Endeavor Foundationrecently announced plans that will also have a positive impact on the health of NWA residents. They’re launching a healthy living initiative with a mission of reducing the incidence of chronic diseases by encouraging more physical activity and healthy diets.
Just in time too. Arkansas ranks as the 9th heaviest state with more 30 percent of adults classified as obese.
