The happiest folks among us

Posted on July 17, 2012 by Mike Masterson in Opinion No Comments
Read it and weep all you who publicly claim to be so tolerant and “progressive.” Arthur C. Brooks, who heads the American Enterprise Institute recently cited studies showing that conservatives are significantly more likely than liberals to say they are “very happy” about being alive.
Brooks writes in the New York Times that “scholars on both the left and right” are unanimous that “it is conservatives who possess the happiness edge.”
Brooks also notes a Pew Research Center study that concluded conservative Republicans were 68 percent more likely than liberal Democrats to say they were “very happy” about their lives. At the heart of such fulfillment, conservatives explained, was their  focus on family, faith and marriage.
“It turns out that for the last three decades, we’ve been looking at studies that show that conservatives, year after year, express greater life satisfaction,” says Brooks, adding: “It turns out that a lot of us are clinging to our guns and our religion, but we’re pretty happy doing all that clinging,”
But happiest of all? Tea partiers, according to Brooks.
He added that folks who are actually rather extreme in their views actually contend to be even more happy than the moderates, typically,” said Brooks, adding that the reason is because those who lean toward the extremes of right verses wrong and values “seem to have it all figured out.”
Betcha a dollar that wisely circulated story made some folks mighty unhappy and even set some blood to boiling in Hollywood where the “stars” happily use the free enterprise system (capitalism) and their freedom of expression and speech at America’s box offices to make their millions while all the while hammering away publicly against the laws of supply and demand. Just telling it like it is my friends.
