Washington County election officials await the onslaught of ballots.
Early and absentee votes should be counted and ready for release by 8 p.m., said Tom Lundstrum, Jr., a member of the county election commission.
The commission will release early and absentee totals at 8 p.m., and update numbers when all electronic ballots are completed, Lundstrum said. The paper ballots will take longer to count.
Lundstrum is just one part of a family political machine tonight. His father, Tom Sr., is seeking re-election to the county Quorum Court; wife Robin is unopposed for an Elm Springs City Council seat; and son David got excused from classes at Shiloh Christian today to campaign with Mom.
