Obama Win Celebrated in Fay

Posted on November 6, 2012 by Dan Craft in Politics No Comments

The Democratic watch party in Fayetteville erupted into shouts and pumped fists as national networks called the presidential race for Barack Obama.

“I’m just hugging myself,” said David Whitaker, a Democrat waiting on numbers for his state House race. “We won the big one.”

Early numbers showed a mixed bag for state-level Democratic candidates. Whitaker and Greg Leding led comfortably in early voting for state House seats, and Adella Gray was close against Charlie Collins. Diana Gonzalez Worthen trailed Jon Woods in a state Senate race.  County-level candidates also waited eagerly to see how the Quorum Court and county-wide office races would turn out.
