Announcing the Thunder on the Mountain music festival

Posted on November 14, 2012 by Kevin Kinder in Entertainment, Tuned In No Comments

Less than a week after fans leave Wakarusa, which takes place May 30 through June 2 at the Mulberry Mountain site in rural Franklin Country, more music lovers will have a reason to visit the area.

Pipeline Productions, which organizes both Wakarusa and the Yonder Mountain String Band’s Harvest Music Festival, have announced a new festival for the same event grounds.

Thunder on the Mountain will take place June 6-8 and feature country music.

Event organizers have told me they expect the event to meet or exceed the size of Wakarusa, which means that 25,000 or more fans might attend.

The lineup has yet to be announced, but Pollstar gives us two ideas: Bucky Covington and Reckless Kelly. Covington’s website confirms his appearance; Reckless Kelly’s makes no mention of the date.

A press release from Pipeline announcing the event says Thunder on the Mountain will become “the Midwest’s premiere country music festival in 2013 and in years to come.”

We’ll provide updates as information becomes available.
