State Rep. Davy Carter, R-Cabot, met for more than an hour with a half-dozen Northwest Arkansas Republican lawmakers at Neal’s Cafe in Springdale, beginning about 12:45 p.m. and ending about 2:15 p.m.
Afterward, Carter would not comment on the purpose of the meeting, which was organized by Rep. Charlie Collins, R-Fayetteville. Carter is rumored to be a potential rival candidate to Rep. Terry Rice, R-Mena, in the race for House Speaker. The election for Speaker is tomorrow.
I’ll leave it to reader’ speculation why a lawmaker from Cabot would be 200 miles away from the state Capitol the day before the House convenes to elect a speaker, going to a hotspot for Republicans to meet with newly elected House members of the new, slim Republican majority.
