This is the time of the year when holiday music dominates the scene. Such as Wynonna’s Rockin’ Christmas, which takes place Sunday (Dec. 16) at the Walton Arts Center. We’ll tell you more about that particular show later.
But that doesn’t mean you should have much trouble finding other live music.
Like TJ Kong on the Atomic Bomb, for instance. On their September release “Manufacturing Joy,” Philadelphia outfit TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb included a song “Eureka Springs, AR,” which was recorded at the Squid and Whale Pub in that town. The band returns to that venue tonight (Dec. 14), and also at the Smoke & Barrel Tavern on Saturday night (Dec. 15). Both gigs start about 9 p.m.
Also on Saturday is a new band from Tennessee. Nashville quartet Luella and the Sun will visit Fayetteville’s Rogue Pizza Co. this weekend during their current tour. The 9 p.m. Saturday show will feature music their official bio calls “a soulful blend of blues-hop gospel and rock.” Admission is free.
Elsewhere, Trash Can Bandits take the stage at Chelsea’s Corner Cafe in Eureka Springs tonight, the guitar and paint bucket duo Wes and Karl perform at JJ’s Grill in Fayetteville tonight and then at JJ’s Rogers location on Saturday night.
