More than 85 years after it opened, George’s Majestic Lounge will look a little fresher this weekend.
A new stage opens tonight (Dec. 28). George’s officials promise it will be taller and provide better sightlines. This is all in addition to a new green room and other amenities already added to the location.
Having the opening duties for the new stage will be another Northwest Arkansas tradition.
About twice per year, the Ernie and Earl Cate rejoin forces to lead a show with The Cate Brothers Band, a popular blue rock outfit that went into semi-retirement several years ago. The Cate Brothers, who have deep ties to Levon Helm and The Band, will perform at during the 6-8 p.m. happy hour today at George’s Majestic Lounge. Admission is $5.
Elsewhere this weekend, classic rock cover band Uncrowned Kings take the stage tonight at Billy’ Bar and Grill in Fayetteville and Bizar will have the music duties at Saturday (Dec. 29) at Smoke & Barrel Tavern.
