If there was ever a reason to party, it’s probably this weekend.
Who needs a reason?
Here’s some suggestions on where to go this weekend:
The trio of musicians that would become the Biscuit Grabbers met while touring with Wayne “The Train” Hancock. Together as the Grabbers, the Austin-based trio plays hillbilly jazz inspired by Western swing and classic country. The group performs tonight (Jan. 18) at Chelsea’s Corner Cafe in Eureka Springs. Admission to the 9:30 p.m. show $5.
Also today, the increasingly ubiquitous Shawn James will perform at Fresco Cafe and Pub just off the Fayetteville Square. The show starts about 6:30 p.m. You know, I’m never one to promote merchandise, but have you seen this guy’s new shirt? Wolves, I’m telling you. Who doesn’t want wolves on their shirt?
Tomorrow evening (Jan. 19), a good local bill featuring Messy Sparkles and Sw/mm/ng takes place at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. Shows there usually start about 9:30 p.m., and there’s a $3 cover for this one.
Other gigs can be found listed on this blog and in What’s Up!, or print publication.
