The weekend in music, with Perpetual Groove and more

Posted on February 1, 2013 by Kevin Kinder in Entertainment, Tuned In No Comments

Perpetual Groove

It’s finally February, meaning 1/12 of your concert-going chances have already passed this year. I hope you’re taking advantage of it.

So, here’s some recommendations for the first day of this new month, in case you want to keep working at it.

The almost never-ending sound — thanks to constant touring — of Perpetual Groove will indeed come to an end after about 10 years on the road. The Georgia-based band also called PGroove has announced it will take an indefinite break after its current tour, which includes a date Saturday (Feb. 2) at George’s Majestic Lounge. Admission to the 9 p.m. show is $15.

Also on Saturday night is another band that isn’t likely to play again any time soon — if ever.

The short-lived indie rock band The Paper Hearts are re-uniting this weekend for an event band members say will be a one-time-only affair. The original lineup will gather to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the album “Plans for the Past.” The Paper Hearts will be joined by local openers Kentucky Waterfalls for the 9 p.m. show at Rogue on Dickson in Fayetteville. Admission is $5.

Speaking of George’s, they’ve got Randy Rogers Band playing there tonight (Feb. 1). We’re told that show is sold out, but you can catch happy hour performer, Trampled Underfoot, a blues band from Kansas City, Mo. They’ll play from 6-8 p.m.

What’s on your agenda for the weekend?
