Co-worker tells me he received a very detailed, live poll calling him at home asked all about the governor’s race. The questions were far-reaching and bi-partisan. For instance: Would it influence your vote to know that Asa Hutchinson overspent his budget at Homeland Security? Would it influence your vote to know that Mike Ross received a political donation from the company that bought his drug store business?
I have no proof, but he timing, the expense and the detail of this poll makes me think this comes from Mike Ross, trying to make up his mind whether to announce for governor. A couple of robo-call polls on the same subject are active too.
On a possible Ross candidacy, it’s my opinion that the “Fayetteville Finger” redistricting controversy of two years ago wouldn’t hurt Ross at all in a governor’s race as it’s shaping up today. That’s history, and I say that as the guy who argued against it more than anybody. Bill Clinton used to live here. In a likely matchup between one of President Clinton’s impeachment managers and any Democrat, a two-year-old controversy over a redistricting that didn’t pass won’t factor in at all.
Far more likely to have an impact are things like sequester, which starts in a week.
