Walmart Posts $3.74 billion Profit

Walmart shares were up more than 5 percent in early trading following the release of fiscal 2013 first quarter earnings. The retailer beat Wall Street revenue projections of $110.5 billion by posting an 8.6 percent year-over-year gain to hit $112.27 billion. Profits were up 10 percent over fiscal 2012 first quarter at $3.74 billion.

AERT reports increase in 1Q sales

AERT reported strong sales for the first quarter, up almost 45 percent year-over-year. Walmart to pay $4.8 million in back wages

Walmart agreed to pay $4.82 million in back wages and damages to more than 4,500 employees nationwide following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division that found violations of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime provisions.
