More on Armey
Thu, Jan 29, 2009
Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey will hold a press conference next week on behalf of FreedomWorks, a conservative anti-tax advocacy group, in opposition to the governor’s proposed cigarette tax hike. Arkansas GOP political director Chase Duggar confirmed the visit Thursday morning. Armey’s news conference is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday on the Capitol, but that might be changed to somewhere indoors in light of weather conditions, Duggar said.
“He’s going to talk about how bad it is to raise taxes in a recession and speak out against the tobacco tax,” Duggar said. The news event will be an event backed by FreedowWorks, a non-profit conservative group based in Washington, D.C.
After the news conference, Armey will appear on his own initiative at a fundraiser for the Republican Party of Arkansas. That event is not affiliated with FreedomWorks, Duggar said.
Final details of Armey’s visit should come in a news release this afternoon or tomorrow, Duggar said.
