In one week (or less, for some of you coming in from faraway lands), it’ll be wheels up for Wakarusa. Early arrival begins on May 29, and many will be arriving that day or making their way in this direction

Candy Lee and the Sweets Hey guys and girls, don’t forget your mom this weekend. Sunday (May 12) is Mother’s Day, so you better do something nice. Perhaps that something nice is a live music show. Five bands will converge on the grounds of Terra Studios near Durham for the venue’s Spring Music Festival.

Music inside Thorncrown Chapel as part of last year’s Artosphere Festival. Artosphere, as the name suggests, offers various art activities during its two-month run. The festival, which kicks off in earnest this weekend and continues through late June, also offers much in the way of live music along the way.

Lots of folks got excited when the inaugural Thunder on the Mountain country music festival was announced earlier this year. And that excitement is warranted in many ways — it’ll be headlined by Toby Keith and Luke Bryan, and organizers tell us the event will exceed the size of the sister festival Wakarusa, meaning in excess of 25,000 may attend. The three-day fest takes place from June 6-8 on Mulberry Mountain north of Ozark on Arkansas 23. Today comes word of a new music festival, which will take place about four hours away from that site

In case you’ve missed it (which means you haven’t been reading this blog frequently enough), Northwest Arkansas will soon be host to a major country music festival.
