3 Penny Acre collect some new songs, release album on Sunday

3 Penny Acre collect some new songs, release album on Sunday

3 Penny Acre In British vernacular, a rag and bone shop is a type of flea market, the kind of place through which junk collectors hawk their wares For Bryan Hembree, the notion of collecting and repurposing what he finds has direct relationship to songwriting. He and his bandmates in 3 Penny Acre find bits of material, then assemble them into songs. That, and further inspiration from a William Butler Yeats poem, led 3 Penny Acre to the songs on their most recent recording, “Rag and Bone.” The group will throw an album release party on Sunday (April 14) at George’s Majestic Lounge. Hembree and bandmates Bernice Hembree and Bayard Blain have been busy since the 2010 release of their sophomore album, “Highway 71.” They performed songs in the TheatreSquared production “Sundown Town” and crossed the country on tour.

Soon in tunes: Robert Randolph, March 12 at George’s

Click here to view the embedded video. Robert Randolph and the Family Band blasts its way through Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Chile.” The group will perform Tuesday at George’s Majestic Lounge. Robert Randolph has made some very good studio albums (my personal favorite is “Unclassified”) but that’s not the ideal outlet for them. Robert Randolph is best watched live, an opportunity you can experience on Tuesday (March 12) at George’s Majestic Lounge

Take a look at George’s new stage

George’s Majestic Lounge’s new stage George’s Majestic Lounge did not getting any larger, at least not on the side of the stage designated for music fans. For those patrons, it will in many ways still be the same frequently packed, 700-attendee-maximum club atmosphere. But for bands
