Walton Arts Center discusses Rogers location

Posted on May 27, 2013 by Kevin Kinder in Entertainment, Tuned In No Comments

After nearly a decade in Fayetteville, the Arkansas Music Pavilion may be moving to Rogers, as our colleague Joel Walsh reported in last Friday’s Northwest Arkansas Times. The Walton Arts Center Council will meet on Tuesday (May 28) to discuss a site west of Interstate 540 in Rogers as a permanent location for the outdoor music facility. Plans have advanced a great deal since the last time the AMP’s permanent home was discussed in great detail — the arts center, the venue’s owner since 2009, now has architectural plans and more than 90 percent of the $11 million it would take to construct the proposed facility. All along, WAC officials have said the new location needs to be located near I-540

Posted on January 15, 2013 by Kevin Kinder in Entertainment, Tuned In No Comments

This is all information that I’ve shared before, but I’ve been asked enough about it recently I thought it wise to share it again. How do events get featured on the blog? Well, it’s a complicated process, but it starts with submissions from you, our readers.

Wakarusa announces first part of 2013 lineup

Click here to view the embedded video. Hipster folk band Of Monsters and Men have a song called “Mountain Sound.” That’s pretty perfect for Wakarusa, the annual Northwest Arkansas music festival they will play at this summer. The list that follows doesn’t contain all of the bands that will perform at this year’s Wakarusa … but it should get you excited about the festival anyway.

Ticket sale reminder: Thunder on the Mountain passes available on Dec. 11

Click here to view the embedded video. I suspect there will be plenty of “Red Solo Cup”s at the Thunder on the Mountain Music Festival, which will be headlined by Toby Keith. In case you’ve missed it (which means you haven’t been reading this blog frequently enough), Northwest Arkansas will soon be host to a major country music festival.

Soon in tunes: Jamie Wolfe and the Wranglers, Thanksgiving night

Jamie Wolfe and the Wranglers Think there’s nothing going on Thanksgiving night? You’d be wrong. Country rock band Jamie Wolfe & The Wranglers will perform that night, for instance. The group, which is based in Northwest Arkansas, has performed at Bikes, Blues & BBQ and many area venues.
