Pro cameras weren't permitted, so here's a semi-decent cell phone photo of the video board. Photos by KEVIN KINDER, NWA Media Late in the band’s abbreviated set for the Walmart Shareholders crowd, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry got in a feedback contest with an amplifier. He shook and manipulated his guitar, which responded with a cascade of noise during the climax of the classic rock anthem “Sweet Emotion.” Perry won his battle when the amp caught fire and smoke emerged from the ruins. Glen Campbell, the “Rhinestone Cowboy,” will visit the Walton Arts Center in late April. I hope he rides in on a horse.
Arkansas native Glen Campbell may be making a last run, but he’s going at full speed as he does.
The country musician and actor was diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease many months ago. He then announced he would go on a final tour, which, thankfully, now includes a stop in Fayetteville on April 27. He will perform at the Walton Arts Center, it was announced Wednesday.
You can watch Campbell this Sunday (Feb. 12) as he performs at the Grammy Awards with The Band Perry and Blake Shelton. Campbell will also receive the Grammy organization’s lifetime achievement award.
Tickets to Campbell’s upcoming show at the Walton Arts Center go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 16). Tickets range from $43-$79 and are available by calling 443-5600 or through the venue’s website.
