The Besnard Lakes photo by Richard Lam Fresh off the release of their new album, April 2’s “Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO,” Canadian alt-rockers The Besnard Lakes are on a tour that will bring them to Fayetteville. In their 7.3 graded review (out of 10.0) of the new album, Pitchfork says the band members are not mere songwriters but “composers who create musical suites out of sweepingly melodic movements.” Joining for the Wednesday night set at The Lightbulb Club are fellow Canadian band Suuns. Admission is $8; the show begins at 9 p.m.

Cantus and Theater Latte Da If you like Christmas songs delivered in a traditional format, Cantus‘ “All is Calm” probably isn’t the show for you. If you like them offered as part of a dramatic story, with plotlines lifted from history, perhaps it’s exactly what you’re after. The show “All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914″ comes to the Walton Arts Center on Thursday (Nov. 29).
