George’s Majestic Lounge’s new stage George’s Majestic Lounge did not getting any larger, at least not on the side of the stage designated for music fans. For those patrons, it will in many ways still be the same frequently packed, 700-attendee-maximum club atmosphere. But for bands

Miranda Lambert Country music fans will get a double dose of Miranda Lambert this weekend when she performs at the inaugural Taste of Country Music Festival, which takes place Friday (Aug. 17) at the Arkansas Music Pavilion. That’s because Lambert will take the stage once with her own band and also as part of the Pistol Annies, a girl group also containing Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe

Click here to view the embedded video. The song above is “Ripple” by the Grateful Dead. Jerry Garcia, who would have been 70 on Wednesday, certainly made a ripple during his time around. A concert honoring Garcia takes place tonight at George’s.

Victor Wooten photo by Steve Parke What? You missed Bela Fleck when they came to town earlier this year? You might not get that chance again, but you can see one of the band members, Victor Wooten, this weekend in Fayetteville. After a series of dates with Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, bass player extraordinaire Wooten is out on a solo tour that will bring him back to that town

[Show as slideshow] As the sun finally broke free from the clouds on an Arkansas Saturday (June 2), Wakarusa’s crowds spent the afternoon soaking in the rays and music from an eclectic set of performers. The temperatures created a buzz that could be felt throughout the festival grounds, and clothing came in shorter supplies as a result of the midafternoon sun. Someone stationed at the southern tollbooth told me that a fairly steady stream of cars were still pulling in to the venue in Franklin County until about 8 p.m.

Kid Cudi performing Sunday night at Barnhill Arena. All photos by KEVIN KINDER, NWA Media. Someone I follow on Twitter suggested there was an error in the billing of the Chip tha Ripper, Big Boi and Kid Cudi show at the University of Arkansas’ Barnhill Arena on Sunday (April 29) night. Big Boi, one half the rap giant (and ever-present soundtrack at clubs during my collegiate days) OutKast, was clearly the bigger deal than Kid Cudi, a relative newcomer to the scene, this person argued.

Cake at the Arkansas Music Pavilion. All photos by KEVIN KINDER, NWA Media. For a band labeled by many critics as a one-hit wonder, Cake sure fooled a lot of people last night (April 19) at their fun but somewhat emotionally empty show at the Arkansas Music Pavilion in Fayetteville. They did play that one hit — the ubiquitous four-minute chunk of ear candy known as “The Distance” — as the the 20th and last song of their two-hour-long show
