Local rockers Cadillac Jackson will release a new album, “Purple,” at a show on Thursday (May 16) at George’s Majestic Lounge. The band describes itself as “a funk band that taps into rock, hip-hop and dance genres.” The group, which played at Wakarusa in 2012, is currently giving away copies of “Landshark,” a live recording made at a previous set at George’s. Admission to the 9 p.m. show is $6; tickets are available online.

Zoogma High-energy electronica/rock act Zoogma will return to George’s Majestic Lounge on Tuesday (March 16) for a combination dance party and light show. While national headliners get the bulk of the attention at music festivals, a few of our local festivals provide great opportunities for local acts, too. Congratulations are in order for local band Flipoff Pirates. The group won a contest on Friday (Jan. 25) at George’s Majestic Lounge that will add them to the lineup for the Wakarusa festival, which takes place this summer on a mountainside in Franklin County.

Hipster folk band Of Monsters and Men have a song called “Mountain Sound.” That’s pretty perfect for Wakarusa, the annual Northwest Arkansas music festival they will play at this summer.
