Leola Gertrude Hayes
GENTRY — Leola Gertrude Hayes, 87, of Gentry died Sept. 3, 2009, in Siloam Springs. She was born March 7, 1922, in Weatherford, Okla., to George and Myrtle Martin Pascher.
She attended the First Assembly of God in Gentry. She was the mother of 11 children and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney William Hayes; one daugther, Peggy Hayes; and one son, William Sidney Hayes.
Survivors include four sons, Duane Little of Bakersfield, Calif., Kenneth Little of Gentry, John Hayes of Fayetteville and Wayne Hayes of Prairie Grove; five daughters, Sharon Hayes of Baton Rouge, La., Rosa Lee of Watts, Okla., Lois Farrell of Bakersfield, Donna Norris of Fayetteville, Doris Hayes of Gentry; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 4, at the National Cemetery Pavilion in Fayetteville.

Laura T. Smith
PUEBLO, Colo. — Laura T. Smith, 70, died Aug. 18, 2009. She was born Feb. 25, 1939, in Dutch Mills.
She was retired from the state hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Glen Smith; three sons, Eugene “Gene” Smith, Ron Smith and wife Sandy, and Larry Smith and wife Julie; her sister, Bonnie Melton of Lincoln; three grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 21 at Imperial Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Imperial Funeral Home of Pueblo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fellowship of the Rockies or the American Cancer Society.
Jeanne Marie Cary Rigler
Jeanne Marie Cary Rigler, 55, of Lincoln died Sept. 4, 2009, at her home near Lincoln. She was born Feb. 13, 1954 in Springdale to Bobby L. and Gladys Marie Weber Cary.
Survivors include her parents of Springdale; three sisters, Linda Thornburgh, Barbara Bowman and husband Frank, and Bobbi Sue Bowman and husband Sam, all of Springdale; eight nieces and nephews; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
Memorials may be made to the Springdale Animal Services, 321 E. Randall Wobbe Lane, Springdale 72764.
A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

WATTS, Okla. — Michael Ray Gier, 37, of Watts died Sept. 3, 2009, at his home. He was born Aug. 19, 1972, in Siloam Springs to Kenneth and Sharon Kicheloe Gier.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, and his parents of Cincinnati.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 9, at Church of the Nazarene in Siloam Springs. Burial will follow at Weddington Cemetery.

Doyle Willis McCarty Sr.
LINCOLN — Doyle Willis McCarty Sr., 73, of Lincoln died Sept. 6, 2009. He was born Aug. 8, 1936 in Dutch Mills to Robert Franklin and Lillie Bell McCarty.
He enjoyed rebuilding engines, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He loved his family, and always built up the people in his life, a true man of integrity, never compromising his beliefs. He retired at J.V. Manufacturing as a machine shop foreman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille McCarty; three brothers, Calvin McCarty, Darrell McCarty and Robert L. McCarty; and four sisters, Evelyn Curtis, Linda McCarty, Lena McCarty and Leona McCarty.
He is survived by two sons, Doyle McCarty, Jr. of Springdale and Galen McCarty of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Charlene Reed of Lincoln; three step-sons, Wyatt Wilson, Rod Wilson and Curtis Wilson all of Springdale; one step-daughter, Sheila Smith of Elm Springs; two brothers, Alvin McCarty of Springdale and Dwaine McCarty of Stella, Mo.; three sisters, Alice McClung of Springdale, Ruth Corter of Rogers and Lorene McCarty of Springdale; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Septe. 9. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home Chapel in Springdale with Pastor Bobby Main officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dwaine McCarty, Cody McCarty, Kevin McCarty, Randy Skaggs, Travis Skaggs and Keith Smith. Committal service will follow at Friendship Cemetery. JOHNSON — Janna Glennis Rice Powell, 45, of Johnson died Sept. 6, 2009 at her home in Johnson. She was born Dec. 7, 1963 in Fayetteville to Marvin and Janice Ann Calvert Rice.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Prairie Grove, and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Powell of Jupiter, Fla.; three daughters, Leann Renae Cook and husband Andrew of Prairie Grove, Stephanie Jana Higby of Elkins and Adrianne Michale Powell of the home; her mother and father of Farmington; one brother, Vance Rice of Farmington; and three grandchildren, Corey Cook, Joseph Cook and Olivia Cook.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Funeral services will be Sept. 10 with burial in Sharp Cemetery.
